Employed staff are responsible for the day to day running of the house and its maintenance. They include: A Resident Warden and Deputy Warden, who are on duty alternately in Sewell House from 9am until 6pm Monday to Saturday, with Support Wardens who cover the same hours on Sundays. Between 6pm and 9.30pm every day, on call emergency cover is provided by a Support Warden with backup response provision from the Carelink service, with the resident duty Warden providing overnight emergency cover from 9.30pm until 9am. We also have a Relief Warden who covers holidays. Our wardens make contact with each resident daily. By maintaining this contact, the wardens are aware of a resident’s changing needs. They also ensure that Sewell House runs smoothly by dealing with any problems which may arise. Sue, our administrator, keeps the paperwork in order! She has been at Sewell House since January 2006 and says ‘This is one of the nicest jobs I have ever had. Sewell House is very friendly and homely - the staff, residents and Board members all get on very well. I feel very fortunate to be working here.’ Pauline, who has been at Sewell House since 2000, has several roles. Mainly she is responsible for keeping the communal areas clean and tidy and ensuring that there are cleaning materials for the job. Pauline also does private cleaning work and shopping for some residents. She says ‘I enjoy working here because the residents are lovely and friendly.’
